Later in the season can get rainy, with relatively strong winds, so we suggest checking the weather forecasts frequently ahead of your trip. In case of rain, we suggest packing a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes, and some warm layers for unexpected temperature drops.

Search for Finder Keepers Floats
They’re one of the most well-known and unique aspects of Lincoln City, and if you’re lucky, you can take one home with you! The Lincoln City Finders Keepers program releases glass floats onto Lincoln City’s beaches and shores year-round. If you find one, it’s yours to keep, and you can register the float with the City. During the fall, two very special glass drops are held: the first at the Lincoln City Kite Festival, with 10 special floats dropped in late September, and the second on Halloween, with 50 dropped.
Explore Lincoln City’s Local Art Scene
Familiarize yourself with Lincoln City’s creative, Pacific spirit and spend some time exploring the local art. One of the best ways you can do exactly that is by embarking on the Lincoln City Art Trail! The self-guided walk through some of the best public works throughout Lincoln City offers a comprehensive look at 30 different murals, sculptures, mosaics, and more! If it’s raining that day and you’re not able to walk around outside, that’s okay; there are plenty of great art exhibits at the Lincoln City Cultural Center. Along with tons of great temporary exhibits, the center is also home to the cultural plaza and an all-new, fully interactive Lego-based exhibit, making this one of the best family-friendly experiences around.
Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival
Speaking of the Lincoln City Kite Festival, it’s another one of the best ways to experience the beach here on the Oregon Coast. In late September, you’ll have the chance to see a colorful collection of kites. One of the coolest things about the multi-day event is the Night Fly, during which the kites will be illuminated, bringing a colorful sparkle to the sky above. Three Capes Scenic Loop
Take a day trip along the Three Capes Scenic Loop for some of the area’s most memorable views. The 70-mile route begins in Tillamook and passes by stunning spots such as Cape Meares, Cape Lookout, and Cape Kiwanda. Cape Lookout offers plenty of forest trails, beach access, and sweeping views of the Tillamook coastline. At Cape Kiwanda, you can admire Haystack Rock or grab a meal beside the ocean. Give yourself time to leave the car, explore the trails, and enjoy each coastal viewpoint on this roughly 2-hour drive that lets you take the road at your own pace.
Otter Crest Loop
Just south of Depoe Bay, Otter Crest Loop offers a four-mile detour from Highway 101 with some incredible coastal views. This one-way route winds through forests and passes Rodea Point, Ben Jones Bridge, and Cape Foulweather, all of which offer a great place to get out and relax. The drive ends near Devil’s Punchbowl, one of the area’s most famous spots.
